Oakford's Summer Fete

Saturday 9th June 2018

A very happy affair, this years fete was 'International Games' themed, with crockery smashing from Greece, football form the World Cup in Russia, A Line Dancing demo with chaotic audience participation from the USA, 'Ring the Bell' from Iceland, where the strong men come from, Petanque from France, the Human Fruit Machine from Holland, Target Darts from Korea, ‘Play Your Cards Right' from good old Blighty and a spy game from Russia, complete with scary Russian agents. A bar and BBQ, and cream teas helped to keep visitors refreshed, and a great afternoon was had by all - and well into the evening for some hardy revellers.

Many thanks to all who helped organise the event, helped on the day, or just came along, and especially to the car parking crew, who had car parking off to a tee!

We raised just under 1000 pounds and are pleased to donate 800 Pounds to the Exe Valley Community Bus, serving Oakford and surrounding villages for over 40 Years, (presentation on Saturday, August 4th in the Village hall, with coffee and cake) plus a contribution to the Village Hall.

Next year's fete will happen sometime in June 2019, ideas and help always welcome, watch out for details of the first meeting in the Autumn.
